Seniors Meal Box is a initiative of Saffron Hub ia national, non-profit organization established in 2018 with a vision to empower and enrich lives through food. Saffron Hub accomplishes this vision by supporting, celebrating and promoting women food entrepreneurs throughout Canada. By enabling the sharing of information regarding; successful food enterprises, gaps in the food industry, room for opportunity and challenges to overcome, Saffron Hub helps women food entrepreneurs’ from every cultural background, experiment, identify new opportunities, refine their niche and succeed. 

We have been able to enact our mission with our collaborative programs. In 2019, in collaboration with many agencies, Saffron Hub distributed 1000 Healthy Food Baskets. In 2020 we increased our efforts providing an additional 2000 Healthy Food Baskets to many newcomers and vulnerable seniors in priority neighbourhoods in Toronto and the Durham Region. In 2021, we launched Seniors Meal Boxes in collaboration with Ansaar Foundation and Pariwar Restaurant with funding support from TD Bank, distributing over 5000 meal boxes to seniors in North York and the Durham Region. Till today we have distributed over 80,000 + meals to seniors.

 

The Seniors Meal Box program provides seniors with a fresh cooked meal including a variety of proteins, vegetables, and carbohydrates, creating a well-balanced meal with a focus on fresh, nutritive dense vegetables. The Seniors Meal Box provides a selection of cultural meals to diverse ethnic groups with their familiar tastes of home and family.
